Region wants City of St. Catharines to order second forensic audit on Burgoyne Bridge
Another twist in the ongoing saga of the over budget Burgoyne Bridge build.
The Region is asking the City of St. Catharines to order a second forensic audit into areas of the project relating to the city as identified by Deloitte, the company hired to do the Region's forensic audit into the project.
Niagara Falls Regional Councillor and Burgoyne Bridge Task Force Chair Selina Volpatti says Deloitte ran into some problems getting some information due to privacy of information issues.
She says it's imperative Deloitte have all the information it needs to find out why the project doubled in price.
Regional politicians are offering to have the region pay for the city’s forensic audit and they’re asking their city counterparts to consider it at this Monday’s city council meeting.
Volpatti is also defending the move to delay the public release of the Region's forensic audit report saying it could compromise the investigation now being conducted by the OPP.
