Regional Chair anticipating audit at Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority
Niagara's Regional Chair is anticipating a third party audit will be done on the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority.
Alan Caslin speaking on CKTB's Roundtable says he expects the NPCA Board of Directors to call for the audit when they meet later this month.
A report released by a local citizen alleges mismanagement and suspect business practices by the NPCA but Caslin is optimistic an audit will resolve those claims.
A number of local municipalities asked the province to step in after the release of the report, but the Minister of Natural Resources confirmed last month she has no authority to order such an audit.
The municipalities of Wainfleet and Niagara Falls both requested the NPCA board of directors order the audit.
The board cancelled their December meeting, so the request will be made at their January meeting.
