Regional council to consider extending Petrowski's leave of absence
Niagara Regional councillors will be asked to extend a controversial St. Catharines councillor's leave of absence when they meet later this week.
On Thursday's agenda, a request to extend Andy Petrowski's leave of absence until September 25th.
The original leave which began February 7th ended May 30th.
Petrowski first took a leave of absence in June of 2017 after an email was sent from his account that included a nude photo of a woman.
He returned several months later but went back on leave just before a regional integrity commissioner ruled his pay should be suspended over the pornographic email.
He has told local media he does not intend to seek re-election in the October muncipal vote.
By approving the most recent leave, council does not have to find a replacement to fill his empty seat.
