Report encourages parents to opt for old fashioned toys this Christmas
Pediatricians are telling parents to ditch the high-tech toys this year, and opt for some old-fashioned fun.
A new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics titled 'Selecting Appropriate Toys for Young Children in the Digital Era' says toys like blocks and dolls can help children develop language and fine-motor skills as well as engage their imagination.
Officials warn against the dangers of screen time and say electronics may hinder caregiver-child interactions.
A release also states, 'Although it has been suggested that interactive media may promote learning, there is no evidence to show that possible benefits match those of active, creative, hands-on and pretend play by parent and child with traditional toys.'
