Sold out concert honours victims of Danforth shooting
Sadness and unshakable resiliency mingled last night during a benefit concert on Danfroth Ave in Toronto.
1500 tickets were sold for a special concert at the Danforth Music Hall featuring Canadian rock icons Billy Talent, City and Colour, Maestro, and Pup after a deadly shooting last month.
Samantha Price was among the concert-goers - she had gone out for ice cream with 18 year old Reese Fallon and a group of friends on July 22nd when a gunman opened fire. Price suffered a bullet wound through her upper thigh, while Fallon was killed.
Ten year old Julianna Kozis was also killed and 12 other people were wounded.
During an interview with CP24, Billy Talent frontman Ben Kowalewicz said the band was devastated by the attack. "We have so many of our friends and family and people that we love who live up in that neighbourhood and our studio is right up blocks from there."
Proceeds from the sold out show are being donated to the TorontoStrong fund.
