IceDogs Lose Game but Win Playoff Spot

The Niagara IceDogs will take part in the OHL playoffs for a 10th consecutive season in St Catharines, despite losing 6-1 in Mississauga. A North Bay loss on home ice to Kingston clinched the 8th seed for the Dogs, just as the game at the Hershey Centre was ending.

The Steelheads took a 2-0 lead in a 51 second span in the opening period and the game stayed there until the third. In the final period, the home side broke it open before Pavel Demin's 4th of the year spoiled the "Fish Fest". Justin Brack and Justin MacPherson both picked up assists on the goal.

The IceDogs will now face the Eastern Conference top seed, the Peterborough Petes. The schedule is as follows; Game 1, Thurs, Mar 23 at Peterborough – 7:05 p.m. Game 2, Sat, Mar 25 at Peterborough – 7:05 p.m. Game 3, Tues, Mar 28 at Niagara – 7:00 p.m. Game 4, Thurs, Mar 30 at Niagara – 7:00 p.m. Game 5, Sat, Apr 1 at Peterborough – 7:05 p.m.* Game 6, Mon, Apr 3 at Niagara – 7:00 p.m.* Game 7, Tues, Apr 4 at Peterborough – 7:05 p.m.* (*if necessary).
