St. Catharines businessman and philanthropist Peter Partridge has died.
A lifelong musician and supporter of the arts, Peter and his wife Janet made a donation of 1 million dollars in April 2013 to the St. Catharines Performing Arts Centre.
Partridge Hall was named in honour of his donation and fundraising efforts.
Partridge was Vice President & Portfolio Manager at RBC Dominion Securities for the past 48 years.
Partridge also hosted a classical music program on 610 CKTB in the 60's and 70's called "Invitation to Good Music".
St.Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik issued a statement saying he is shocked and saddened by the passing of Partridge.
He says Niagara has lost a great friend who gave so much of his time, talent and treasure to our community.
Sendzik says he will be missed by many people in our city, across the country and around the world and his thoughts are with his wife Janet, sons Peter Jr and John and extended family and friends.

We are shocked and saddened by the passing of Peter Partridge. We lost a great friend who gave so much of his time, talent and treasure to our community. He was generous with his time to assist and lead many cultural and charitable causes. He was a talented musician who uplifted and inspired so many people. Peter was a successful businessman which gave him the abilities to truly be a patron of the arts in St. Catharines. He leaves a beautiful legacy that will touch the lives of many for generations to come. He will be missed by many people in our city, across the country and around the world. Our thoughts are with his wife Janet, sons Peter Jr and John and extended family and friends.
