St. Catharines man arrested after approaching kids at Russell Ave Centre and Harriet Tubman
A St. Catharines man is facing child abuse charges after approaching kids.
Police were called to the Russell Ave Community Centre on Tuesday night around 6:30 p.m. after reports of a suspicious person.
When officers arrived on scene they were told an unknown man approached a 10 year old boy and began speaking to him until the boy's mother intervened.
Police say during the confrontation the man made physical contact with a six year old the mother was holding.
Later on the same man approached a group of kids playing in the Harriet Tubman Public schoolyard.
Police say he may have also entered the school that was being used by a group for an after hours event.
30 year old Tyler Kevin Chambers has been charged with invitation to sexual touching, assault, and two counts of breach of probation.
He is being held in custody.
Detectives believe there are more victims, particularly after the events that occured near Harriet Tubman Public School.
This isn't the first time the suspect has been arrested for sexual assault.
Last year he was charged after allegedly grabbing a three-year-old and assaulting a teen in downtown Hamilton.
He was on probation at the time after for a number of other offences including sexual assaults and public intoxication.
