St. Catharines prepares for possible flooding
The City of St. Catharines is taking precautions as we look at more rain for the end of the week and water levels continuing to rise in Lake Ontario.
Crews are fanning out across the city, clearing out ditches, sewers, and culverts to keep water moving.
Homeowners are also asked to make sure storm grates, drains, and catch basins are clear to prevent flooding.
All sports fields in St. Catharines are closed until further notice in the interest of public safety.
Kiwanis Field and the Garden City Golf Course are still open, but hikers are asked to stay away from Decew Falls.
This comes as tens of thousands of people in Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick continue to deal with record setting flooding.
