Suspect makes off with smokes during St. Catharines robbery

Police are searching for a suspect in the latest convenience store holdup in St. Catharines.

It happened just after midnight at the 7-11 on Lake Street.

Police say a man entered the store and demanded a carton of smokes.

He got into a struggle with the cashier and managed to remove one pack from the carton.

When the clerk failed to turn over the remainder of packs he pulled a weapon from his pocket

The suspect made off with a quantity of merchandise and was last seen running on Louisa Street toward Henry Street.

The bandit is described as 30 to 40 years of age about 6 feet tall with a skinny build,  wearing a black baseball hat, black heavy sweater/jacket and dark pants.
