Telephone town hall coming sooner than expected in St. Catharines
St. Catharines residents will be getting a call next month asking them to participate in the City's Budget Committee telephone town hall.
Now in its 4th year, the telephone town hall operates similar to a radio call-in show except instead of individuals calling in, 30,000 residents will be called at home and asked to participate.
Mayor Walter Sendzik, Councillor and Budget Chair Mat Sisco and City staff will participate in the telephone town hall and answer questions about the 2018 budget on Wednesday, October 25th from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The City will also be hosting a couple of open houses for those who want to provide feedback in person.
Open houses will be held Tuesday October 24th at Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre and Thursday October 26th at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre.
Both open houses will run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
As a change to this year’s process, the operating budget will now be finalized in late fall rather than in March, which is why public engagement is being held in October.
