The rain didn't dampen spirits at the annual Rankin Cancer Run yesterday.
The 280 teams and 14,000 participants made for the largest turnout in event history, according to Race Director Mary Ann Edwards.
She joined CKTB's Matt Holmes, saying this years fundraising total reached just over $1 million.
The money will stay in Niagara to support several local services, such as the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
Edwards praised the District School Board of Niagara and Catholic School Board of Niagara for "coming up huge" and welcoming soaked runners into nearby school for shelter.
With yesterday's succesful event in the books, the planning for next years run starts tomorrow.
