For the first time since 2001 the annual Air Race Classic will be coming to Canada, and the finish line is right here in Niagara.
109 female pilots began the race on Monday in Tennessee and are expected to cross the finish line at the Dorothy Rungeling Airport by Friday.
Canada is represented by Niagara-On-The-Lake pilot Asti Livingston and co-pilot Susan Begg from Ottawa.
Race co-chairs Peter Van Caulart and Cathy Boyko are hoping the all-female affair encourages more women to pursue an interest in flying.
Boyko citing statistics that only 6 to 7 percent of commercial pilots are women.
