Thousands of workers mark May Day worldwide
Thousands of people are hitting the streets today, calling for better working conditions.
Marches have been planned across the world to mark 'May Day.'
In some places May 1st is an opportunity to celebrate hard work but in many other parts of the world the occasion is used to call for higher wages, better protections for employees, and workers' rights.
Recently, some of the marches have taken a violent turn and transformed into riots.
Officials in France are particularly wary this year - they worry yellow vest protesters could turn some of demonstrations into dangerous affairs.
