Today you are working for yourself
In case you missed it, yesterday was Tax Freedom Day.
Its the day we stop paying all levels of government and work for ourselves.
The Fraser Institute says this year, the average Canadian family, with an income around $115,000, will pay over $50,000 in total taxes, or about 43.6 percent of its annual income.
Total taxes include income tax, payroll tax, sales tax, health tax, property tax, fuel and carbon taxes as well as sin taxes.
Canadian families celebrate Tax Freedom Day on June 10 this year, according to the Fraser Institute’s annual calculations.
Calculate your personal Tax Freedom Day using the Fraser Institute’s online calculator at www.fraserinstitute.org.
