Toronto woman says she was denied access to washroom because of her disability
A Toronto woman has launched a human rights complaint after a local bar allegedly refused to let her use their washroom because she might sue the facility if she injured herself.
Haily Butler-Henderson, who has spina bifida and uses foremarm crutches, says the incident happened at Pentagram Bar and Grill last August.
She says a waitress at one point physically barred her access to the stairs, although bar staff eventually relented and let her use the washroom.
Her complaint to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario has not yet proceeded to a hearing.
