Trudeau Liberals to announce single use plastic ban
There is word the federal government will move to ban single use plastics like drinking straws and water bottles.
The Prime Minister will make the announcement today in Montreal.
The ban, which would go into effect in 2021, comes as politicians around the world voice concerns over the amount of plastic that end up in landfills, waterways and oceans.
Locally, councils in Niagara have also been pushing to reduce plastic waste.
St. Catharines and Niagara Falls have already moved to ban plastic drinking straws in city run facilities.
