Trudeau responds to groping allegation
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he does not remember any ``negative interactions'' during a music festival he attended 18 years ago in British Columbia.
A newspaper editorial at the time alleged he groped an unnamed female reporter at the event, which was a fundraiser for the Avalanche Foundation.
The editorial appeared in the Creston Valley Advance, and it alleged Trudeau later apologized to the reporter.
Trudeau told reporters on Sunday that he remembers attending the music festival in Creston, B-C, in 2000, but doesn't recall anything going amiss.
Trudeau answered one question on the issue during a Canada Day event in Regina, but didn't offer an opportunity for any follow-ups.
The Canadian Press has made efforts to speak to the other person involved in the alleged incident, but those efforts have so far been unsuccessful.
The allegation is particularly problematic for Trudeau, who frequently proclaims himself a feminist and has generally taken a zero-tolerance approach to allegations of sexual misconduct within the Liberal party.
