Trudeau shares family story

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has candidly shared a personal example of how his government's plan to legalize marijuana will prevent Canadians from a lifetime of aggravation.

In an interview with Vice Media last night, Trudeau revealed a little-known fact about his younger brother Michel, who died in a B-C avalanche two decades ago.

He said six months before his death, Michel was charged with pot possession after he was involved in a collision while driving home from the West Coast and police found a Sucrets box with a couple of joints inside.

Trudeau acknowledged that because of their father's connections and ability to hire a good lawyer, Michel was able to avoid a criminal record -- but he noted the same result isn't often available to Canadians from other walks of life.
