Two people taken to hospital with serious injuries following Welland crash
Fire crews extracted a man from a vehicle after a crash in Welland yesterday.
Police officials say around 6 p.m. last night, a grey Toyota SUV collided with a stopped Nissan at the intersection of Niagara Street and Merritt Road as the driver of the Nissan attempted to make a left hand turn.
The female driver of the Nissan was taken to a local hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.
The car was demolished.
Meanwhile the male driver of the Toyota was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. His car was also destroyed.
The 60 year old man from Welland has been charged with careless driving.
Ornge Air Ambulance was also called in, but police officials tell CKTB both drivers were transported to hospital by ground ambulance.
