U.S. company wants to put up dozens of turbines along Lake Ontario shore

Expect to see more wind turbines along the shore of Lake Ontario.

A Virginia based company, Apex Clean Energy is looking for approval to put more than 40 turbines along the lake in upstate New York

The turbines will generate enough electricity to power more than 50,000 homes in Niagara and Orleans counties.

Proponents say they will bring jobs to the area but opponents say they will be a blight on the rural landscape.

If the application is approved the turbines will be up an running by 2022.
