United Way Challenge winner announced
The City of St. Catharines has won the United Way Challenge.
In September, NOTL Lord Mayor Patrick Darte issued a participation challenge to all area municipalities and the Niagara Region to see which municipality could achieve the highest percentage of employees supporting the United Way.
The Garden City won beating out several other municipalities including the Niagara Region.
“I would like to thank everyone who participated in the United Way Challenge," stated Lord Mayor Patrick Darte.
"This was a great way for us as municipal and regional staff to rally together and show our support for a great local cause. Niagara-on-the-Lake, despite complete confidence, came second to this year's challenge winners, the City of St. Catharines. Congratulations St. Catharines for not only accepting the challenge but for making your way to the top of the leader board. Enjoy this moment of victory because Niagara-on-the-Lake is coming for you next year!"
“We are very proud of this accomplishment and the campaign our staff ran this year” said Mayor Walter Sendzik.
“A big thank you to our committee for their efforts and to all of the staff members who contributed. By supporting United Way, Team STC is helping the most vulnerable people in our community and building a stronger, more compassionate Niagara. Thank you to Lord Mayor Patrick Darte for initiating this challenge. There’s always next year, Pat.”
