UPDATE: Man arrested in downtown St. Catharines after standoff


The standoff in downtown St. Catharines ended with the arrest of a 41-year-old man.

Around 4:45 p.m. police were alerted after a man claimed he was armed in a 6th floor unit at the Leonard Hotel on St. Paul Street,

The Emergency Tactical Unit responded and closed a section of downtown while negotiators spoke with the man.

He was eventually taken into custody just before 7:30 p.m. last night.

Brian Adshead is charged with mischief over $5000 and mischief under $5000
Adshead was also wanted on a previous warrant for uttering threats as well as 3 counts of breach of probation in unrelated incidents.
