UPDATE : One person sent to hospital with serious injuries after QEW crash in Niagara Falls

With the temperature at the freezing mark and snow starting to fall, black ice on highways around Niagara causing problems this morning.

In Niagara Falls the QEW Toronto bound at Lyons Creek Rd and the on-ramp Lyons Creek Rd EB/WB, were closed for about an hour for a crash.

Those lanes are now open and traffic is moving.

OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt tells CKTB the multi-vehicle crash sent one person to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

OPP remain on scene of another crash, QEW Fort Erie bound off-ramp at the 420EB, right lane blocked due to collision.

An earlier crash SB 406 at the Woodlawn exit in Welland has been cleared.
