UPDATE | One student arrested following incident at Notre Dame in Welland
Some scary moments for students and staff at Welland's Notre Dame College high school.
A student who was bleeding profusely was brought to Principal Ken Griespma's office at 11 o'clock this morning.
He says staff sprung into action to administer first aid, call 911, and place the school under a hold and secure.
Niagara Regional Police and other emergency officials arrived at the school on Smith Street.
Two injured students were taken to hospital, one suffering from serious injuries was taken to an out-of-town hospital.
The other student suffered a minor injury and was taken to a local hospital.
Police arrested one student.
Director of Education for the Niagara Catholic District School Board, John Crocco says out of an abundance of caution they also put St. Kevin Elementary school under hold and secure.
He is thanking the school staff for their swift action.
It was exactly a week ago, police responded to alleged social media threats made towards Notre Dame.
Detectives are now investigating whether today's events are related to the threat.
The hold and secures at both schools have been lifted.
