UPDATE: The winter storm may hang on a bit longer that expected
Environment Canada updating its special weather statement for Niagara.
The weather officer says periods of snow will continue today across most of the Niagara Peninsula, accompanied by strong and gusty northwesterly winds.
Heavier lake-enhanced snow continues over eastern portions of the region, where 5 to locally 10 centimetres is likely by evening.
Poor winter driving conditions are expected today due to reduced visibility at times in snow and blowing snow.
Untreated roads will be snow covered and slippery.
Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination.
