UPDATED | Power outage in St. Catharines

Alectra says all power has been restored in St. Catharines following outage that affected around 15,000 customers.

The outage, that was first reported around 11am, was affecting customers from Geneva Street to Welland Canal and from Lincoln Avenue and Queenston Street to Lake Ontario.

They say the outage is due to a loss of supply from Hydro One.

Crews worked all day to restore the power.

Alectra had estimated it would be back around 5pm, but it was restored ahead of schedule.

The Hydro One transmission failure also caused significant outages in Niagara on the Lake, and Port Colborne.

Those outages have since been resolved.

Niagara on the Lake residents near line 2 and 3 are still without power, due to a non-related pole break.

It is estimated that will be fixed in the next few hours.
