Wainfleet approves 2017 budget with a 4% increase
Wainfleet has now passed its budget for 2017 which includes a 4 percent increase.
Council members agreeing to the spending plan at its meeting this week.
The Township’s draft operating and capital budgets were originally presented to Council on January 17th.
Officials say aldermen once again subjected the budgets to considerable scrutiny, both from operating and capital perspectives.
Wainfleet Treasurer and Manager of Corporate Services, Adam Cross then presented a revised budget, based on Council direction from the January meeting.
Cross says it is a prudent budget based on the current needs within the Township, while emphasizing Council’s commitment to addressing infrastructure needs.
Council approved a budget increase of 4.04%, which includes a 2% infrastructure levy.
The 2016 budget increase was 3.95%.
