WARNING | OPP asking truck drivers with empty loads to avoid Skyway bridges
A wind warning continues in Niagara and OPP are reminding drivers to use caution heading over the Skyway bridges in St.Catharines and Burlington.
OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says the QEW and bridges remain open but empty trucks should avoid the bridges.
He is asking drivers to take Eastport or Queenston instead.
Wind gusts could hit 100 km/hr in Niagara.
Winds will slowly diminish this evening.
Schmidt says they are trying to avoid an incident similar to March 7th of last year when an empty tractor trailer flipped on the Burlington Skyway Bridge during high winds.
He says MTO crews are watching the situation closely.
