Water rates in St. Catharines going up
The average homeowner in St. Catharines will see their water bill increase by $41.29 this year.
St. Catharines City Council has passed the 2019 water and wastewater budget with plans to invest $8.2 million to continue work to improve the pipes and sewers.
Overall, the rate increase amounts to 5.28 percent.
City staff hope the commitment to replacing aging water pipes will result in fewer watermain breaks in the Garden City.
