Welland County Humane Society needs your help
The Welland County Humane Society needs help to pay for vital heartworm treatment for seven dogs rescued from Haldimand County.
A total of 13 dogs were rescued in January after fire broke out at a residence that was home to a group of large breed dogs, mainly Mastiffs and Rottweilers.
The owner let some dogs loose to escape the flames, while others were found in pens outside the house.
Several have tested positive for heartworm and the treatment will cost the shelter about $1500 each.
Humane Society Executive Director John Greer says they are hoping for donations to help shelter cover the costs.
Trainers have also been brought in to socialize the canines before they can be put up for adoption.
The shelter has also released a video on youtube featuring the animals.
