Welland resident charged after reportedly racing along at more than twice the speed limit

A Welland resident received a little something extra in his Easter basket this year: a ticket for stunt driving.

Niagara Regional Police pulled over the 23 year old driver just after 11:15 a.m. yesterday morning.

Police say he was clocked racing along at 145 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone. When asked why, the driver reportedly told the officer, "I have no reason to be going that fast, I just kind of put my foot down."

His licence has been suspended for 7 days and his car has been impounded.
