West Lincoln Memorial Hospital is getting some upgrades

West Lincoln Memorial Hospital is getting some upgrades in order to meet safety standards.

Hamilton Health Sciences have announced that they will upgrade surgical and obstetrical  facilities at the hospital

They say work will begin in July with the temporary conversion of one operating room to a sterile surgical supply storage space.

The renovation will take three or four days.

In the fall, the sterile supply storage space in the obstetrical area will also be renovated.

The emergency department and other services, including outpatient clinics, continue as normal.

Cindy Toth, Save West Lincoln Memorial Hospital co-chair, says this seems to be a positive short term solution.

However, Toth says they will continue to press to get shovels in the ground for a new hospital to be built as soon as possible.
