What the Prime Minister's infrastructure announcement means for Niagara
Niagara's Regional Chair calls the federal government's latest funding announcement 'profoundly important' to municipalities across the country.
Jim Bradley tells CKTB what yesterday's announcement about doubling the federal infrastructure top up means for Niagara.
Bradley says "it's exceedingly important...we want to expand our transportation in activities in Niagara. The region wants to have a meaningful service in terms of transportation. This allows us money for those kind of things".
He also says this funding is important in helping along the infrastructure for the Canada Games when they come to Niagara in 2021.
Bradley adds he has not heard anything further about the province fulfilling their part of the funding commitment.
Organizers for the Games have previously said they will only build what they get funds for, and they were hoping to have shovels in the ground this fall.
