Winter Weather Travel Advisory issued for Niagara as snow starts to fall

A Winter Weather Travel Advisory has been issued for Niagara this Thursday afternoon.

A band of lake effect snow is impacting portions of eastern Lake Erie.

The system is expected to become more intense this afternoon and then move out of the region later this evening.

Southern Niagara will likely be impacted the most with near 10 centimetres possible in areas that receive the most persistent snowfall.

Northern Niagara will likely see considerably less accumulation.

Travel today will likely be hazardous at times.

In addition, gusty winds may result in areas of blowing snow and poor visibility.
