Wondering how Canada Post is doing with the backlog of mail and parcels?
The crown corporation posted an update on their website last week saying parcels stuck in the system will still be delayed into 2019.
Lettermail however, should be cleared and delivered before Christmas day.
For International parcels, delays are likely to stretch into March of 2019.
International items will require screening by the Canada Border Services Agency.
For direct marketing mail they are expecting to be current before December 25, but some delays may occur and time-sensitive pieces will be delivered on a best-effort basis.
The backlog was created by rotating strikes by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers that began in October as efforts to negotiate a new contract failed.
The federal government legislated an end to the job action in November.
