1. Hydration enhances orgasms
One would assume that the best way to achieve a better orgasm would be an improvement in performance – this, however, is not the case. The human body is made up of mostly fluids. In fact, the average body weight is made up of approximately 60% water, meaning being well hydrated actually enhances your ability to achieve orgasm. So the next time you’re not satisfied with your orgasm, don’t blame your partner, just grab a bottle of water.
2. Sex burns calories
OK, maybe you can believe this one. If you’re wanting to shed the pounds and can’t stand the thought of running on a treadmill for half an hour, why not swap it for sex? According to some studies, the average person can burn up to 200 calories during 30 minutes of active sex.
3. Greeks are having the most sex
You would perhaps assume the country with the largest population would statistically be having the most sex. However, according to a survey conducted by Durex condoms, the country having the most sex is in fact Greece. Just missing out on the top spot are Brazil in second place and Poland and Russia in joint third.
4. Humans and dolphins have something in common
Both humans and animals have sex with the intent of reproduction, and many might assume that only humans have the capability of having sex simply for pleasurable – however, this is not the case. Strangely enough, the only animal known to have sex for pleasure are dolphins. Perhaps Flipper wasn’t quite so innocent after all.
5. Pumpkins turn men on
This is just as strange as it sounds, according to a study conducted at the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Center of Chicago, the scent of a pumpkin can actually increase blood flow to the penis and work as a male aphrodisiac – this could give an explanation to the popularity of Halloween.
6. Sex can be euphoric
Endorphins released while having sex can generate a sense of euphoria, which gives a similar experience to being high on drugs.
7. Several Popes have died during sex
Yes you read that correctly, several Roman Catholic Popes are said to have died during sex according to Thinning The Herd by Cynthia Ceilan.
She wrote in the book:
Pope John VII was bludgeoned to death by the husband of his mistress when he caught them in flagrante delicto. John XIII met his end (so to speak) when a cuckholded husband rammed a poker up his bottom.
Pope Leo VII suffered a fatal heart attack during sex. Pope Paul II was said to have died while being sodomized by a page boy.
More recently in history, the short-loved Pope John Paul I, known also as The Smiling Pope and who died just thirty-three days into his papacy, was allegedly so obsessed with pornography that he passed away while ‘reviewing the literature’.
8. Kissing is dirty
Kissing and sex come hand in hand. However, most of us aren’t aware of just how unhygienic this can be. According to one study published in Microbiome, around 80 million bacteria is exchanged between partners during a 10 second French kiss. So perhaps next time, a simple peck on the cheek would suffice?
9. Cycling can cause erectile dysfunction
This of course only applies to male cyclists. But it is said that the pressure of a bicycle seat on a groin can lead to erectile dysfunction. Of course this is only considered a risk, but perhaps it could be time to switch to a new workout plan guys.
