Harvesting has begun at the Edwin Binney's Community Garden in Lindsay. The United Way of Kawartha Lakes says it looks like they are going to have an abundance of produce and so they are looking for volunteers to help water, weed, harvest and organize produce. Whether you are a cycling enthusiast, a casual rider or family looking for a fun activity, the Kawartha Lakes Classic Cycling Tour on August 24th, offers routes designed to accommodate all experience levels. 13km and 25km guided trail routes to scenic 50km, 100km and 160km road route. Many rest stops are available along the routes for refreshments. All of the road routes are fully supported with trail vehicles and motorcycle support. The trail routes have lead and sweep cyclists. Following the ride, participants can enjoy a delicious buffet at Boston Pizza. Katie’s Ride is Saturday, August 24th leaving from the Admiral Inn Lindsay. Registration is Friday August 23rd from 6-9pm at the hotel and Saturday August 24th 8-9:30am. Ride leaves at 10am and heads to Dorset for lunch. Returning to the hotel around 4:30. Happy hour is 5 pm and Dinner is at 6pm at the hotel. Cost is $30 for the ride. Dinner is $60/ea or $100/couple. All proceeds from this event will be going towards new playground equipment for the children. The existing equipment is over 40 years old and the surface area does not meet the safety standards of today. Bethany is a growing place for young families and the little people population is growing. Pancake Breakfast prepared by Sargeant At Arms, Mike Clark and a BBQ.
