Hockey Day in the Kawarthas Feb. 19
Hockey Day in the Kawarthas is a two-part event - produced by the new KMAG (Kawartha Museum and Art Gallery - the former Olde Gaol Museum and Kawartha Art Gallery). Family Day Monday February 19th, at the Victoria Park Armoury from 11am to 4pm, the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Gold Medal Package will be set up for people to see and participate with – four major trophies (the Vezina, Hart, Art Ross and Calder or Conn Smythe), all the Hall’s large interactive exhibits and games, artifacts from its displays – sweaters, sticks, masks and more and art, photos and video from the Hall’s collections. KMAG will have its own exhibits to tell the story of hockey in the area through art and artifacts. Both days will be held in association with the Hockey Hall of Fame, and Leaf great Ron Ellis – whose name is on the Cup as one of the last members of the Leaf’s Cup winning team in 1967 – mau be on hand. Admission is free – with any donations going towards Museum and Gallery youth and community programming.
Kawartha Snowmobile Club's Family Fun Ride Mar 3
Due to the warm temperatures – the Kawartha Snowmobile Club’s Family Fun Ride has been postponed to Saturday March 3rd. The Yamaha Ride slated for Feb 24th launching from the Equipment Building has also been cancelled. On March 3rd, registration will take place from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the KLSC Equipment Building on Hwy 121 by Superior Propane! Travel the day on scenic trails then take a lunch stop provided at the Community Centre in Kinmount, ending off the day at the Burnt River Community Centre at 3 p.m. Snacks available, raffle prizes, and silent auction. Proceeds from the registrations will support the Breakfast Programs for local elementary schools. Still only $15 per person.
