Basic Income Pilot Rally

The cancellation of the Basic Income Pilot is causing chaos and distress about 2,000 people in the Lindsay and Kawartha Lakes area who were taking part in the program.

Many people had made decisions and committments based on the financial stability the program offered.

Advocates say in cancelling the pilot project, the Conservative Party is going back on its word, as it assured the public prior to the election that the project would go forward under their leadership.

Labour Minister and Haliburton Kawartha Lakes Brock MPP laurie Scott says the cancellation was due to concerns with the pilot.

Scott encourages residents on the program to call 1-844-217-45-16 for support.

A rally is being organized on Tuesday for those affected by the cancellation.

It will start at Victoria Park at 12:30pm with a march to Scott's office
