Boat operator charges

Two boat operators have been charged after being stopped by the Kawartha Lakes OPP marine unit.

The Provincial police boat was out conducting vessel safety checks yesterday on Sturgeon Lake when an officer discovered 4 grams of cannabis on one of the boats he was checking.

The 27 year old operator from Hampton was charged with having care or control of a vessel with cannabis readily available.

Later the marine unit checked a boat on the Scugog River which was carrying empty beer cans.

The 60 year old boat operator of Durham, was charged with having care and control of a boat with open containers of liquor.
