Busy weekend for police

Kawartha Lakes Police were kept busy over the weekend responding to over 140 calls and making a number of arrests.

Along with the usual noise complaints and animal in vehicle calls police also made arrests pertaining to impaired driving by drug; theft and use of a stolen credit card, resisting arrest; assault and other criminal code offences.

The impaired driver was arrested after an officer observed a vehicle driving erratically on Kent Street West early Saturday morning.

Police say the vehicle swerved across the four lanes of Kent Street and the cruiser was almost struck by the vehicle head-on before it was stopped.

35-year-old Malcolm Tyson of Lindsay was charged with Driving While His Ability Was Impaired by Drugs and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
