City to partially remove load restrictions
City of Kawartha Lakes to Partially Remove Road Load Restrictions
The City of Kawartha Lakes Roads Operations division announced today that road conditions have permitted the removal of load weight restrictions for all City roads south of County Road 8 (Glenarm Road).
City roads north of County Road 8 are still load restricted until further notice. Staff are reviewing conditions on a daily basis and the remaining restrictions will be lifted when road conditions permit. Due to changing weather patterns, the roads affected and the duration of the restricted period may change. Visit the load restrictions page on the City’s website for current information on load restrictions.
Restrictions are typically put into place during the spring thaw, when road damage is most likely to occur due to heavy loading. This program identifies and imposes load restrictions on roads, or portions of roads that are weakened by excess water in the road base. Once the road has been determined to be structurally sound, load restrictions may be rescinded.
