A stolen cheque book resulted in over $43,000 in withdrawals being made from an elderly Pickering couple's account.
Durham police say a 70-year-old man ordered new cheques in December but then never arrived so he re-ordered more in February.
Several weeks later, the bank contacted the male to advise his account had been drained of over $43,000 after someone had intercepted the first replacement cheques and started making withdrawals.
Investigation led to the arrest of two males for a total of 66 charges while police continue to investigate a third suspect.
Charged are 26 year old Jesse Beaton of Ajax and 18 year old Darren Nicholson of Oshawa.
