It is much more difficult to face homelessness in the winter time.

Lorrie Polito, executive director of A Place Called Home says the City of Kawartha Lakes does not have the same culture of street homelessness as seen in Toronto, Oshawa and even Peterborough.

She says A Place Called Home has been successful in accommodating everyone without a place to live and even if the facility were full, they would work to find a place for someone who is homeless.

If you know of someone who has no place to go in the City of Kawartha Lakes they should call us at 1-866-520-2689 and press 1.  There is someone here to help 24-7.

Polito says it's extremely difficult to find affordable and safe housing in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
