Humane Remains Discovered

Kawartha Lakes Police Service were called to investigate after human remains were located in a rural area south of Lindsay.

An archaeologist who had been hired to conduct an archaeological survey adjacent to known historical gravesites discovered human bones in an unmarked grave outside the marked graveyard.

It was determined the shallow grave was likely at least 150 years old and there was evidence of a coffin including pieces of wood and square nails.

It was determined that the discovery of human remains was not related to a criminal offence and Police  will not be investigating further.
