Influenza cases increased
There have been 26 confirmed cases of influenza so far this season in the Kawartha Haliburton Pine Ridge District Health Unit's region.
That is compared to 14 at this time last year.
The Health Unit's Marianne Rock says there has been a spike in cases after Christmas when family and friends gathered for the holidays.
Marianne says people should be taking precautions to slow the spread of the virus, which includes staying home it they are sick and getting their flu vaccine if they haven't already.
Washing your hands frequently is another easy way of preventing the flu.
