Man charged with stealing snowmobiles

A Kitchener man is facing multiple charges after he fled from a RIDE program on Highway 35 in the township of Minden Hills Sunday evening.

Haliburton OPP say officers requested the driver of a pickup truck towing a snowmobile trailer to pull over to the shoulder but instead he left and crashed in to a guardrail and a tree a short distance away.

The driver fled on foot injuring himself.

34 year old Daniel Litschgy was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment.

An investigation revealed the trailer and two snowmobiles inside were stolen from a local residence and a third snowmobile in the back of the pickup truck was stolen from Drumbo, Ontario two days prior.

Litschgy faces numerous charges including Flight from a Peace Officer, Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
