Officer cleared by SIU
The Special Investigations Unit has cleared a City of Kawartha Lakes Police officer in the death of an 89-year-old woman last year in Lindsay.
The woman had been driving erratically and was stopped at the intersection of Angeline Street and Highway 7 early in the morning of May 10th, 2016 and police thought she was disoriented and lost so they decided to escort her to her home.
She complained she wasn't well and she was taken to hospital, where she died 5 days later from bleeding on the brain.
The coroner determined the officers couldn't have saved the woman as her medical episode probably started the day before.
