Smoke Alarms

In wake of the fatal fire earlier this week in Oshawa, where it was determined that the home did not have working smoke alarms, Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue reminds the public that you must have working smoke alarms.

Fire Prevention Officer Fritz Mattern says it's the law to have smoke alarms on every level of your home and outside all sleeping areas.

Carbon Monoxide alarms are required outside all sleeping areas, if your home has a fuel burning appliance, fireplace or an attached garage.
