Local man rings in New Year with arrest

Not everyone rang in the new year on the right foot. 

Bruce Peninsula OPP were called around 11:30 on December 31st, to a Highway 21 residence at Saugeen First Nation for a weapons occurence. 

Police were confronted outside by a male with a machete.

During the confrontation, officers discharged a conducted energy weapon (taser) and the suspect dropped the weapon.

The male was searched by police and two more knives were found on the male.

Police have charged 47-year-old male, Emric THOMPSON of Saugeen First Nation with Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Resist Peace Officer.
